Motorcycle Live is an annual event held over two weekends at the NEC in Birmingham. The event features the top motorcycle manufactures all showcasing their latest bikes, parts and technologies. Motorcycle Live is the UK’s largest bike show, featuring over 100 exhibitors and including a selection of famous riders and celebrities.
Giggabox’s involvement with Motorcycle Live covers both weekends of the event. On the first weekend, the Giggabox team are tasked with completing a 48-minute TV programme that would be aired on Eurosport. The project required a very large team, with filming and editing occurring simultaneously to ensure the completion of the project is delivered before the deadline. This is the 10th year that Giggabox has worked with the Motorcycle Live event to produce a visually captivating and informative consumer programme.
The programme needed to be:
- Easy to understand and follow
- Appealing to bike enthusiasts and casual viewers alike
- Capture the brands ethos in a short period of time
- Carefully presented to be in accordance with advertising laws
The Giggabox team spent 1 full day filming at Motorcycle Live with two full camera crews, covering numerous companies over a large space. On the day there were also facilities provided to enable our editing team to work simultaneously with the filming team to get ahead on editing the show, enhancing productivity and efficiency.
Our crew included:
- 1 Executive Producers
- 2 Producers
- 2 Presenters: James Haydon and Greg Haines
- 2 Camera Operatives
- 2 Sound recordists
- 3 Assistant Producers
- 3 Editors
- 1 Social media operator
With over 10 years of experience producing a programme for Eurosport on Motorcycle Live, the team has become very prepared and organized to ensure perfect execution of the filming. The schedule and running order are finalised before the show and distributed to the relevant team members. When it comes to the day of filming, everyone knows exactly what is required of them and this benefits us greatly in avoiding any complications on the day.
The post-production of Motorcycle Live showcases the talent and productivity of the Giggabox team. In advance the ad breaks, transitions and lower thirds are all created, finalised and approved by the executive producer, significantly reducing the time taken in post-production. Once all the individual segments of raw footage are collated, the team begin by enhancing each individual clip, ensuring picture and sound quality are in-line with Giggabox’s high standards. Lower thirds are then added to each segment to include name and company of those interviewed, ad breaks are positioned accordingly, and transitions between all the different segments included.
Once the full Motorcycle Live programme has been viewed by the Executive Producer, the team uploads the final copy to Eurosport, going live on Monday the 18th of November 2019, 48 hours after the show. Over the course of the week, the Motorcycle Live programme is featured 10 times on Eurosport, creating great coverage for all the brands involved. As part of Giggabox’s offering, each of the individual segments are sent to the brand involved, allowing them to use the clips on social media and in marketing campaigns, generating further exposure.
